‘The dream shows the inner truth and reality of the patient as it really is: not as I conjecture it to be, and not as he would like it to be, but as it is’
C G Jung, The Practical Use of Dream Analysis (1934).
Our dreams reveal contents of the unconscious that are seeking to emerge into consciousness. The psychology of C G Jung emphasizes the spiritual significance of dream material for our development towards wholeness, the process he named Individuation. While the content of our dreams can at times seem insignificant, once we respect them as symbolic images, the dream material becomes a rich natural source of wisdom.
The course will include working with our personal dream material and developing the interpretive skills of compensation, association, image formation, symbol synthesis and active imagination. We will touch on major themes of Jungian psychology including:
- The psyche as conscious and unconscious
- Ego, persona, shadow
- Personal and collective unconscious
- Theory of complexes and archetypes.
Participants will be asked to bring some dream material to the course and also to record dreams they have while on the course. The theory will emerge from the practical application of dream interpretation.
This course is aimed at counselors and therapists who would like to develop their skills in working with dreams and learn more about Jungian Psychology, as well as individuals interested in deepening their own use of dream material in their spiritual journey.
The course will be limited to a maximum number of 10 participants.
The fee includes: accommodation, all meals, teaching, optional qi gong and meditation in the morning and late evening.
Please arrive by 4.00 pm on July 15th. The course will end with lunch on July 18th.
‘Through the assimilation of unconscious contents, the momentary life of consciousness can once more be brought into harmony with the law of nature from which it all too easily departs, and the patient can be led back to the natural law of his own being.’
C G Jung The Meaning of Psychology for Modern Man (1933)
